About

Kyle Clayton is an author who has read multiple New York Times Bestsellers in his free time between writing the fantasy fiction series Chronicles of the Ancient Sea Kings. He was born and raised in Louisiana by some parents, went to some schools, and graduated in the top half of his class. Soon after, he applied to be and was accepted as a Roads Scholar (mostly I-10 corridor). Kyle is credited as an early pioneer of collecting ketchup packets in the door pocket of his truck.

His work has been featured in publications ranging from this website to the rejection piles of The New Yorker and Atlantic Monthly. He appears regularly on NPR blacklists and has been interviewed, at times, under oath. Awards include the Jefferson Davis Parish Outstanding Student of the Month; 3rd place in District on the FFA Horticulture team; 6th grade regional spelling bee champ. As a grown man, he no longer seeks awards in order to maintain a notion of superiority while avoiding the sting of defeat and the fact that his parents no longer pay those entry fees.

Kyle first got into writing because he thought most people sucked at it and didn’t realize it’s actually kind of hard. He fronts a one-man folk band that tours frequently through various rooms of the house. He’s been invited to run marathons, and is highly-sought-after for his financial expertise due to earning six-figures a month, despite the fact that two of them come after the period. He’s fully aware that mentioning the words New York Times Bestseller in your bio sounds legit. If it doesn’t, say it again. When he’s temporarily buckled by the enormity of the task in front of him, he writes sarcastic bios so that he doesn’t actually have to come up with a single interesting thing about himself.

He is married to his wife and lives in the hinterlands of Santa Barbara. You can find him on social media if you have access to a time machine with a pre-2016 setting.
